Highly regarded worldwide and one of Western Australia’s iconic events, the Karma Resorts Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km open water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island.

The Keiko Uno Jewellery team caught up with eight-time winner, Jaime Bowler, and here’s what she had to say about staying motivated, time management, and her aspirations.

Q. What motivates you?
A. I’m a very active person and could never imagine my life any other way. I start every morning between 5 am and 6 am including holidays, even earlier on Christmas (so I don’t miss anything). I like to start the day with a run or swim as I believe this helps set my energy and mood levels which in turn, helps with the challenges I face at work and home. I am driven by results and challenges throughout my life whether they are sporting, work or family life. I have a wonderful family and group of friends that are equally, if not more crazy and energetic than myself. Having such good company makes the hardest challenges seem like fun.

Q.You are a mother, a nurse and an elite athlete, how do you find the time?
A. I find that being a mother is definitely the hardest. Doing a bit of exercise each day helps me to deal with the stress of work and home life. Regardless of how much sleep I get the night before I will always wake early the next day for swimming training or a run with friends. As strange as it sounds, I find the routine gives me more energy throughout the day. Following this routine and being fairly organised helps me accomplish a lot each day.

Q. Please share your dreams and aspirations with us.
A. My dreams would be for my family and friends to live happy, healthy lives and to live their life to the fullest. (Also a Porsche would be great as well)
